This silver plated SELMER Alto Large Bore has been fully restored. The saxophone has been played a lot, so it has excellent vibration. The action is in top form and – although these SELMER Altos arranged inline – gorgeous to play. No play in the axles, smooth and very precise.
Everything was renewed (cork, felts, …) and equipped with black roo pads with metal resonators. It has a great sound, easy response, smooth action and good intonation. This gives the SELMER Alto an overall expressive individual sound.

History NOTES:
In 1928, Henri SELMER Paris decided to stop putting a model stamp on their instruments. So the next range of instruments, from 1928 to 1931, have become known as the Large Bore. This is because the bore at the top of the body, where the neck is attached, changed for the Altos, and the Altos only. It changed from roughly 25.1 millimeters to about 25.5 millimeters. That may not seem like very much, point four of one millimetre, but it is nearly a two percent increase in the bore and that has a dramatic effect on the sound.

Das versilberte SELMER Alto Large Bore wurde vollständig restauriert. Das Sax wurde viel gespielt, was sich in der guten Schwingung des Altos bemerkbar macht. Die Mechanik ist top in Ordnung und obwohl – wie bei diesen 30er SELMER Inline angeordnet – traumhaft zu spielen. Kein Spiel in den Achsen, leichtgängig und dabei sehr präzise.
Es wurde alles erneuert (Kork, Filze, …) und mit schwarzen Känguruh-Polstern mit Metall-Resonatoren ausgestattet. Es hat einen prima Sound, leichte Ansprache, leichtgängige Mechanik und gute Intonation. Das gibt dem SELMER-Alto insgesamt eine ausdrucksstarken individuellen Sound.

Historischer HINWEIS:
Im Jahr 1928 beschloss Henri SELMER Paris, seine Instrumente nicht mehr mit einem Modellstempel zu versehen. So wurde die nächste Reihe von Instrumenten, die von 1928 bis 1931 gebaut wurden, als Large Bore bekannt. Das liegt daran, dass sich die Bohrung am oberen Ende des Korpus, wo der Hals befestigt ist, bei den Altos, und nur bei den Altos, geändert hat. Sie änderte sich von etwa 25,1 Millimetern auf etwa 25,5 Millimeter. Das mag nicht viel erscheinen, 0,4 Millimeter, aber es sind fast zwei Prozent mehr Bohrung, und das hat einen dramatischen Einfluss auf den Klang.
